Stuart Wilson
Stuart is a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Wythenshawe Hospital with a special interest in breast surgery. Including oncoplastic breast reconstruction, developmental breast abnormalities, breast symmetrising surgery and aesthetic breast surgery.
His practice also includes skin oncology and reconstruction following hand and lower limb trauma.
Stuart is a member of the Manchester oncoplastic breast multidisciplinary team (MDT), working closely with the breast surgeons to provide a variety of reconstruction options including implant-based reconstruction with biological mesh (Strattice) and flap-based reconstructions (LD - non-microsurgical, DIEP & TRAM - microsurgical). Stuart is also a member of the breast family history MDT.
Following undergraduate training in Sheffield, Stuart trained in plastic surgery in Manchester and Leeds. He undertook further specialist training on hand and plastic surgery fellowships in Ljubljana, Zurich and Nancy, and breast and hand fellowships in Manchester. Stuart has been on the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery since 2000. Stuart is active in training the next generation of plastic surgeons; he was regional training programme director from 2006-2011 and continues to teach and mentor trainees preparing for the FRCS(Plast) examination.
